Scare me: “What if I get stuck here, in the wilderness, with no way out?”

As Halloween approaches, our witnesses recount a time they experienced cold sweats. In the second episode, Raphaël recalls being stuck in his car in the middle of the Serbian forest one dark night in 2019.
Goosebumps, Tales from the Crypt, American Horror Story … On TV and on other platforms, scary stories, for young and old, are legion. And according to the statistics portal Statista, one in three French people are fond of these chilling tales. In real life too, we like to scare ourselves by telling each other, during evenings under the stars or by the fire, our best anecdotes of the times we gave ourselves the cold sweats. With Halloween approaching, Libé has compiled for you testimonies from people who recount a major scare episode. Today, Raphaël, 34, a photographer based in the Somme, recalls a memory from a trip to Serbia.
“In 2019, I went to Serbia to visit – I'm quite a fan of concrete and Soviet architecture – and to go for walks in nature. So I landed in Belgrade, where I spent one or two nights. I rented a car to go to the Tara Mountain Nature Park, on the border with Bosnia. Not far from the park is the village of director Emir Kusturica, where Life is a Miracle was filmed, I really want to go see all that.
"I plan to stop for the night at a hiking trailhead parking lot. At 10 p.m., I'm five kilometers from arriving at this parking lot, and it's already pitch black. You should know that in Serbia, there is almost no street lighting on the roads. There is sometimes a street lamp at the lines
